Thomas’s clients include national and local investors, funds, developers, operators, syndicators, lenders and tenants.  His practice focuses on acquisitions, dispositions, financing, leasing, development, equity investments, syndications and real property tax planning.  He also represents high net worth families in tax based and responsible next generation wealth transfer strategies, trust administration and probate.  Additionally, he represents a number of tax exempt organizations.  Previously Thomas was in-house counsel at Pepperdine University in Malibu and Guitar Center, Inc. in Westlake Village and was an associate at the law firm of Halling + Sokol LLP in Calabasas.

He is a life long resident of the San Fernando Valley and is married with two daughters and a son.

Education:

Thomas graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, majoring in finance and minoring in international business.  His Juris Doctor degree was obtained from the Pepperdine University School of Law in 2005.  Additionally, he graduated from Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business Management with a Masters of Business Administration.  Thomas studied international business and finance in Denmark and Mexico, and participated in Pepperdine’s London law program.

Thomas is admitted to the State Bar of California, the United States District Court for the Central District of California and is a licensed California real estate broker.

He is very active with local nonprofits and ministries, past president of the Woodland Hills Estate and Tax Planning Council, current president of Affordable Rent Project (providing affordable housing), board member of the Los Angeles Mission, member of the Los Angeles Jewish Home Executives, member of the advisory board of the San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission  and a deacon at Bel Air Presbyterian Church.  Previously he sat on the board of Habitat for Humanity – San Fernando/ Santa Clarita Valleys for over ten years, Cloud & Fire (assisting at-risk and low income youth), past chair of the Providence Cedars Sinai Tarzana Hospital Real Estate Committee and was a founder of Impacting Hearts (providing foster youth with leadership skills through biblical principles).
